Volunteer Wendy Loveland chats with a resident at the Mary Ellen McCormack Housing Development.During our first year, City-Wide Dialogues staff, Steering Committee and volunteers visited most of Boston’s neighborhoods to meet with groups, community leaders and everyday folks on the street to talk about the Dialogues and invite residents to participate. The weather was great during the summer of 2004 and we also attended outdoor events and “Unity Day” festivals. On this page are a few photos from our visits to South Boston!

We find that when we have a chance to talk personally with people and answer their questions about the project, they are very likely to want to take part. Dialogues Steering Committee members Erika Butler and Jeff Stone talked with local youth about the Dialogues at the Old Colony Housing Development.Typical questions we hear are: Why are you doing this? Who organized it? What’s the outcome? Who is eligible? How does it work? Often the conversations about the City-Wide Dialogues turn into good dialogues themselves!
